Art 1016: Rust

Rust

I was inspired by the fabric strips that I have from cutting for another project. Just started weaving them together, and voila! I don't typically work with raw edges...not really my thing. But, "rust" is the place to do it, I think. Also decided to play with some hand stitching. Hope this photo works...kept cutting off an edge. I'm about to find out!

Love this. Love the color combination. Good that you tried something you don't usually do. And good for recycling.

Art 1016 is a challenge community of six art quilters, the brainchild of Deborah MacDonald, who began to enlist like-minded quilters in the summer of 2011. Our name, with a nod to the Golden Mean, refers to the dimension requirements of our quilts: each side must be at least 10 inches but not longer than 18 inches. Beginning January 1, 2012, a new theme word, chosen by a different member each time, is announced on the first of the month with the completed quilts revealed two months later. Scattered throughout the United States and Europe, we are united by this bimonthly challenge. The path we each take to meeting these challenges reflects the variety of our unique experiences and preferences, but we all love to play with color, shape,and fabric.
